Updated 02/07/04: Webcomic has begun updated, see below

My webcomic has recently been updated with a new one-shot. I'm thinking of turning the webcomic into something with continuity later, but for right now I'm just working with what seems funny at the time of writing. The simple comic layout is still in effect (the Sleep is for the Weak rehaul is coming soon), so just click here to start. Hope you like; comics will be updated as often as possible.

Oi, kiddos--nice to meet ya. This is Adamus Prime, and welcome to my virtual lunchbox of delectable art tidbits. Please excuse the rather small nature of this page as the place is still under serious construction. There will be far more comics here in the near future, far more than the basic sketches and little doodles up now, so please, reign in your impatience because I know it is like a horde of raging, bloodthirsty hounds in anticipation. There will soon be a hearty steak of material to satisfy the pack's ravenous hunger, so rest easy.

I've been drawing since I was a little kid, and have amassed a ridiculous pile of original characters and practice sketches over the years. My current series, "Hot Apple Pirate," was published in my high school newspaper and on the web a few years ago, and will be enjoying a pie-like rebirth on this site soon. Until then, please settle your pie urges with small and chaste fantasies about the comic, and also with delicious fruity pies.

And as if there wasn't enough already appearing on my Internet plate, also making its debut on this site will be my largest current project: "Jukebox Heroes."

Oh, but you see, it makes plenty of sense. Just stare at it for a few hours and maybe you'll come up with something.

I specialize in black-and-white, anime- and Western-comics-influenced art that became the hybrid style you see around you. I work in pencil and ink and am always working on my coloring skills, and, as of now, I usually stick to the paper medium rather than the computer. I'll probably be open for commission work in the near future. If I met any of you in Artist's Alley at Otakon 2002 (where I spent much of my time), hello again.

Sorry the touchup's not better in this; Lianne was all yelling at me about getting something for the website up, so this was a bit rushed. Blame html rage.

Jukebox Heroes

The "Jukebox Heroes" comic series has been in the design phase for many years. It has a huge story and character list behind it, so plan on it being quite involved; the few pictures up are just to give you a little nibble of the treats to come. And yes, it's very influenced by superhero comics, Japanese manga (comics), and punk music, so it's a nice genre mix not unlike a batch of recently-completed cookie batter, stuck to the spoon that is the web and available for licking by anxious, oven-intolerant fans. The project itself is far from half-baked, though.

To the left is a basic sketch featuring the two leads of Jukebox Heroes: Dweezil (left) and Aaron (right). A few character profiles are below, so please scroll a bit for character delicacies.

Dweezil Chavez
He's the main character of this little story. Dweezil's into punk and ska music, comics, thrift store shopping, and old-school video games. He's a goofy slacker with a heart of gold.

Aaron Fishman
Dweezil's best friend since childhood, the two are like brothers (though they look nothing alike, so no undeserved family discounts at the buffet for them). Aaron is the guitarist for the ska-metal band El Skabong, and is a horrible chain smoker.

April Tuchi
April is Dweezil's dream girl--she's into comics, video games, music, and all sorts of cool stuff. She's a sweet little hippy punk.

Serena Edwards
She's a goofy punker with a soft spot for character actor Corey Haim. Putting that aside, she's a good kid, but don't cross her--she's a ruffian.

Yes, Serena's earrings are little skulls.

Sorry I've been so slow in initial updates--I had to find myself. I discovered my hidden talents while dressed in unfashionable black garb and sharing my stunning goth poetry with a room full of soulmates. Now that I've tapped the inner power of my soul-wrenching angst, I'm back and ready to work on comics. I've since burned the outfit.

Here's another inked piece from Jukebox Heroes. That's Dweezil and Aaron in their crime-fighting gear--fearsome and threatening, oh yes. That sword's pretty sharp. You could cut... I dunno, carrots with it. When I have a little more Jukebox Heroes material to post, I'll probably put it on its own separate page in order to feature better organization.

That just about does it for now. My contact's at adamusprime@sleepisfortheweak.org, so feel free to drop me a line. Updates will be frequent on this page so please scurry back soon. Keep it cool until then!

...

Wait a second. "Half-baked?" DEAR GOD, NOT ANOTHER PUN! STRIKE ME DOWN, LORD!
